Man Changes Name to Run For Sheriff as "Andy Griffith"

Channel 3000
USA Today
ABC
My only question about his is, shouldn't he have changed his name to "Andy Taylor"? Andy Griffith was an actor not a sheriff.

Also, I wonder wear I can get one of those T-shirts?

Andy Taylor Blogs!

Now this is an interesting idea! Here is a blog where somebody is blogging about TAGS episodes from Andy's point of view. Whoever is writing this stuff is doing a good job. Check it out here.

New Book- Mayberry Reflections

Thought I would mention a new book that came out recently called "Mayberry Reflections". The book was authored by Ken Anderson an avid fan and writer of all things TAGS. The book gives summary plots of the first 4 seasons of TAGS and offers reflections and insight on each episode. This book will surly be on my Christmas list this year. Ken also has a myspace account.

I assume Ken will be doing a book on seasons 5-8 as well.

Being a Barney Fife Tribute Artist

This past year there were two occasions where I performed as a Barney Fife Tribute Artist. The first was for a sermon I did for our church, and the 2nd was when I spoke at a college for their commencement ceremony. I have a good time doing it. I don't really look like Don, however I have worked on many of the mannerisms to make up for it. I certainly don't have the skills of the master, who has been doing it for quite sometime.

I would love to do it more often as I try to perfect the act a little more. I also need to lose about 15 pounds to become a little scrawnier.

Mayberry in MySpace

Myspace is not the most family friendly place on the web however there are a few myspace TAGS groups that should be considered. The two largest are...

The Andy Griffith Show Party Zone
The Don Knotts Fan Club

I thought I would also mention mine that only has 4 members.

The "Andy Griffith Show" watchers club group

Review of a "A Family Visit" from Utah TAGS Chapter

A Utah TAGS Fan chapter is starting to review episodes of TAGS shows and have posted them at this website.

There latest is a review on the episode "A Family Visit".

Andy Griffith Show Screensavers

Gary as added something new to the Mayberry Emporium. He has made 30 screensavers and it is only $5 for all of them. Check them out here!

Barney and The Preamble of the Constitution

This may be one of the single funniest scenes from the whole series. Enjoy!

Just in Time for Halloween- Mayberry Pumpkins!

Follow these links to get patterns for carving your pumpkin into Barney, Floyd, Opie, or Goober.

The first year I did a carving of Barney. I was pretty happy how it turned out. Last year I tried carving Floyd and Goober. Floyd was pretty difficult and I had to use toothpicks to fix where I messed up. This year I'm planning to do Opie and Barney.

It would be pretty sweet if someone could figure out the pattern for Andy. I have a friend that figured out how to make carving patterns through photoshop. Maybe I will ask him to try to make an Andy pattern. If I do, I will post it here. The picture to the left is my first attempt at Barney two years ago. Better yet what if I could also get Aunt Bee, Gomer and Howard!

Thanks to Allan from Mayberry.com for the link.

Waiting for December for Season 8 and Mayberry R.F.D. Coming Soon?

A few years ago when I found out that they were finally releasing TAGS on DVD in full seasons I was ecstatic. From that time on I have enjoyed all 7 seasons that have been released. As many of you TAGS fans know, the final season comes out on Dec 12th, and they are also selling all 8 seasons together in one big pack.

The big question now is will they release "Mayberry R.F.D." to DVD as well. I would assume that they would since it seems that TAGS sold very. However, I'm sure sales dropped off a bit when they put out the colored episodes. In the next few months I would like to make a post about the colored episodes, and how they sometimes get too much of a bad wrap. I will wait to do that after season 8th comes out.

62 days till season 8 release!

My Favorite TAGS Memorabilia

My love for the "The Andy Griffith Show" has started me to collect Andy Griffith stuff. Here is a few examples of my favorite pieces.

The first is a "Mayberry Deputy" Bobblehead doll, of the MD on his Motorcycle w/ side car. They were given out last summer at a Danville Braves minor league baseball game. My grandfather got it for me Christmas 05' off of ebay.

The 2nd piece I won on ebay from Gary Wedemeyer. It is an autograph card signed by Ron Howard. Gary said that he obtained it from a friend that knows Clint Howard and had Ron sign a bunch of cards for him. I had it framed at Hobby Lobby and I think it looks pretty nice.

My current TAGS memorabilia wish list includes:

Mayberry comic book
2007 Calender
"This Home is Protcted by Fife" Welcome Mat
Mayberry coloring book

Mayberry: a Love and a Hobby

A doctor asked me the other day if I had any hobbies. I joked and basically said I didn't really have any other hobbies right now except "holding my newborn". I lied.

My real hobby is watching "The Andy Griffith Show". I must say that it is also a lot of fun collecting anything Mayberry as well. So I thought I would take my love for Mayberry and my tendency to blog and put them together as a special blog devoted to the greatest show on the planet.

So sit back, grab a bottle of pop from the fillin' station, and enjoy as I try to blog about all things Mayberry.
